Making paper chains with four-year-olds

Caitlin LeBlanc | December 2018

You will need:

  • Strips of coloured paper – you choose the width, length, and colours. (The paper strips used here are approximately 1.5 cm wide and 20 cm long. These were cut before the activity by an adult. Older children may be able to measure and cut their own paper strips.)
  • Glue (or sello-tape)

1. Make a strip of paper into a ring and glue it together.

2. Slide another strip of paper through the ring and glue it into a ring.

3. Repeat until you have a beautiful long chain. Chains can be joined to form longer ones with another strip of paper looped through the end rings of each chain.
