Golden Lane Campus

Golden Lane Campus brought together a children’s centre, a primary and a special needs school. As well as knitting these three functions together in one building, the challenge was that the staff came together from different settings. Part of the team-building activity was a day spent at Robertsbridge planning the centre with many of the staff.

“We went down to Community Playthings to plan the room layouts. Having the chance to work together as a team was a wonderful opportunity. Because everyone had ownership of the plans, it was a comfortable process even though we were a diverse team. We made flexible choices and are still experimenting with the layout of the rooms – but the equipment lets us do that.”

Roomscapes furniture at Golden Lane
  • Roomscapes furniture is used to divide up the stay and play area. Area rugs allow for maximum flexibility when it's time to change the room around
  • The modern architecture welcomes you in while the wooden furniture adds the "home feel" that children love.
  • The block room, a special feature at Golden Lane Campus, gives plenty of space for large and small construction.
  • Art supplies are at the children’s level to enable creativity to flourish.
  • The creche is not a big room but the furniture creates boundaries between activity areas. The wet/creative area is on the right.
  • The Welcome centre furniture provides space for a name by each hook and a pocket for artwork and notices for parents to take home.
