Everybody is a genius

Boy making a boat

“Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing it is stupid.” Albert Einstein

You might be surprised that the head of the Community Playthings design team believed he was stupid as a child. He’s dyslexic (though he dislikes all such labels). His three-dimensional perception, such an asset in product design, was a hindrance in learning to read and write. So his initial years at school were a nightmare. Fortunately his mother was a teacher who believed that every child has a unique key to unlock their hidden potential. With her support he discovered and built on his strengths. Today we would not manage without him.

It’s imperative that schools value and connect with diverse learning styles, allowing each child to blossom in their own way. Lighting the Fire expounds this view. If you don’t have it yet, download the booklet from our website or request a free copy.
