What are woodchips for?

Outdoor play

This little team had been busy for some time. First they found wheelbarrows and pushcarts to haul woodchips from a pile in the nursery garden. They then used the woodchips in all sorts of ways: putting them through a discarded cable reel to “chop up hay for the horses”, making soup, building roads and more. Finally they set up this chute for “sending food down the pipe”.

These three-year-olds have all they need for their rich play: an environment where they feel secure, materials and loose parts, good friends to share ideas and lots of uninterrupted time!
