Wooden chairs of all sizes and shapes

Considering wooden chairs for your classroom or childcare? Many people think wooden chairs are impractical because they are hard to keep clean. At Community Playthings we design and build our own chairs, and we use them, too, in our own childcare centres and schools. So we know what you need in a wooden chair.

The Teacher's Low Chair and our Woodcrest Chairs (6 sizes!) are one piece of laminated hardwood - smooth and graceful - with no difficult corners for dirt and food to lodge. These wooden chairs are easy on the eye, and easy to clean.

Mealtime Chairs have a washable plastic seat insert and tray that are dishwasher safe. A combination of wooden chair and plastic that is practical for young and messy eaters 6 - 24 months old.

Me-Do-It Chairs are for your youngest sitters - encouraging independance and giving toddlers a wooden chair of their very own. The seat and back are solid hardwood.

Childshape Chairs are a product of using the measurements of thousands of children to design wooden chairs that are truly child-shaped. Healthy posture encourages children to focus on the important things - playing and learning.

"Children should never sit for prolonged periods in the wrong size chair with their feet dangling.  A chair should comfortably fit the child and allow the child to sit in a natural, relaxed, supported way while keeping his/her feet on the floor or a stable surface to improve postural stability."
