We believe play is essential to childhood. Play is a child's natural means of expression and discovery. When children re-enact their lives in play with others, they grow socially, and their understanding of their world is strengthened. As children climb, jump, build and lift, they learn problem-solving as well as physical skills.

Our products are developed to support play. We design and manufacture at our workshops in East Sussex and Kent, drawing on input from early childhood professionals across Europe. When a new product is suggested, we research the idea extensively, in part through visits to settings like yours.

The community that makes the playthings is comprised of families and singles who share a common faith in Jesus.

The community’s 87 year educational tradition emphasizes unity between home and school, the significance of play, interaction with nature, handcrafts, practical work, imagination and creativity.

This educational approach is summed up in the words of Friedrich Froebel:
